INTRODUCTION TO THE CYBER-ED CHRISTIAN SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

The 2023 recipient of Global News Network-Liberia's Academic Institute of the Year award

The Cyber-Ed Christian School of Excellence (CCS) is a private, international, 21st Century school, based on Christian principles.  It was founded in 2012 by Counsellor Soni K.Williams (Executive Director) as a home school.  Soni’s desire to start a school grew out of her struggle to find a suitable school for her two daughters, when the family relocated to Liberia from the U.S.

Based on the success of the homeschool, CCS expanded to a day school in 2015 and celebrates 10 years of academic excellence.  The school utilizes a hybrid approach to education, combining digital education and traditional methods to teach a rigorous core curriculum that emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math (STEAM) education, as well as Language Arts and the development of strong communication skills.

This blended, holistic, innovative and student-centered approach to education teaches students (Pre-K through 12th grade) the skills that are necessary for success in the 21st century, empowers them to successfully compete with their counterparts in the rest of the world and nurtures the development of a lifelong love of learning in academics and the arts.

The educational system in Liberia was ravished by a 14 years of civil war.  As a result, Liberian children (even those in the best schools) trail behind their counterparts around the world with regard to education. The goal of CCS is to catapult Liberia into the twenty-first century by offering students residing in Liberia the opportunity to acquire the highest quality education in an environment that makes learning dynamic and fun. Public health crises like the Ebola epidemic and more recently the Coronavirus pandemic only widen educational deficit gaps. CCS is determined to eliminate these gaps.

CCS is working to ensure quality education delivery to students from low and middle income backgrounds by making enrollment accessible to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.  In order to make this goal a reality, the importance of formulating and implementing novel approaches to income generation to achieve sustainability is key. One such approach is the establishment of a sliding scale for tuition fees, calculated based on both family income and the number of children per family.
